Danske Bank Edmund Rice Rannafast Cup Semi-Final Result : St Macartan’s Monaghan 3-8 St Patrick’s Cavan 2-10

Congrats to the team and management on reaching the final!

AFTER surviving an extra-time quarter-final thriller against Omagh last week, St Macartan’s Monaghan again walked the tight rope in Emyvale yesterday to reach the Danske Bank Edmund Rice Rannafast Cup final with a point to spare.
Robbie McAlister’s goal in the second minute gave them a great boost and they actually led from that point until the finish with the exception of a levelling point from Cavan in the opening minute of the second half.
Cavan got back in contention by the end of the first quarter with a goal from Darragh Kennedy. However Michael Savage netted in the 21st minute to give St Macartan’s an interval lead of 2-3 to 1-5.
Cavan levelled on the re-start through a point from Ryan O’Neill, but Savage responded with his second goal and points from Padraig Finnan, Jack and Ryan Mohan and Robbie McAlister followed to put the Sem 3-7 to 1-7 ahead entering the last ten minutes.
Cavan hit back with a Ryan O’Neill goal, to which Savage responded with a point, the Sem’s last score. They spent the last ten minutes pinned back in defence as the gap was closed to a single point with scores from Kennedy (0-2) and Lee Reilly.
However time ran out on the Breffni side and St Macartan’s remain on course to win their first Rannafast Cup title in 37 years next weekend.

St Macartan’s : Michael Savage 2-1, Robbie McAlister 1-3, Ryan Mohan 0-2, Padraig Finnan 0-1, Jack Mohan 0-1.
St Patrick’s Cavan : Ryan O’Neill 1-3, Daragh Kennedy 1-3, Tiarnan Reilly 0-2, Lee Reilly 0-1, Paddy O’Reilly 0-1
