Sem’s Grimly Team Say Thank You

(Grimly Fiendish Organisers, Ciaran Burns, Fergal Sherlock, Oran McGee and Ben Brogan)

The St. Macartan’s College Transition Year students who were involved in organising the Grimly Fiendish Adventure Run on Saturday morning last were delighted with the event which took place on the grounds of St. Macartan’s College and attracted participants from throughout the county. The Grimly Fiendish Adventure Run  proved to be as challenging as advertised with organisers delighted to report that no participants were injured or lost as a result of the event! The 5k run began with a gentle warm up lap of the College buildings before participants had to make their way onto the College farmlands,  down to the Blackwater River and onto what was the Monaghan to Glaslough railway line.

Speaking after the run, the event organisers expressed their gratitude to the event sponsors, everybody who participated in the run, members of the Irish Army’s 27th Battalion based at Aiken Barracks, in Dundalk, members of Monaghan Harps G.F.C. who acted as stewards for the event, Parents’ Association member Mr. Brian Peppard, Mr. Paul Bond from Brix Work Wear Monaghan who mentored the group  and members of staff at the school who assisted with the organisation and management of the event on the day. Proceeds from the event will go towards the St. Macartan’s College sports facilities development fund and to the Motor Neuron Research fund. All participants who completed the course were presented with a specially designed t-shirt and commemorative medal.
