29th September: TY taste of Monaghan activity
29th September & every Thursday until Halloween: Teaching computers and mobile phone skills to older learners in the Pastoral Centre in Monaghan. Anyone interested in getting lessons can respond to the ad in the Northern Standard by Age Action Ireland or to the notice in the Monaghan Parish Bulletin when they appear. Alternatively leave their name and details with Mr Mc Cabe through the school office.
Start of October: Nuring home visits begin to two local nursing homes every Monaghan evening from 1:45pm. Volunteers needed!
Tuesday 3rd October: Fr Leo Creelman will speak to TY students about the John Paul II Awards in the library at 2pm
Tuesday the 10th October: TY retreat to Lough Derg.
12th October: Prestnation to TY students by the Volunteer Bureau on the importance and opportunities in volunteering locally.
Friday 20th October: Youth Connect presents their talk on the Rights & Responsibilities in the workplace to each TY class.
Wednesday 25th October: Meithael Breakfast morning.
Thursday 26th Oct: Last class teaching computers to older learners.
Thursday 26th Oct: 4 students represent TY at the U3A conference.
Thursday 9th November & Friday 10th November: Fundraising for Irish Wheelchair Association in Monaghan Town.
MUSICAL : 14th November to Friday 17th November.
Work experience for those NOT going to Belgium : Monday 20th November to Friday the 24th November AND Tuesday 28th November to Friday 1st December.
Belgium science trip: Tuesday 21st November to Friday 24th November followed by a four day work experience from Tuesday 28th November to Friday 1st December.
Monday the 27th November: The Gardaí Road Safety presentations in the Garage Theatre for all local secondary schools followed by an inmportant preparation session for a guest speaker..
Monday 4th December: MSPCA talk on animal cruelty
Monday 11th December: Tooth Led Teens training for 10 volunteers
Tuesday 12th December: Shoutout.ie presentation on homophobic bullying and related issues.
15th to 19th Jan: Michael Meehan and Christopher Flood , with other students, represent the school in front and behind the camera at the gael linn communications course as Gaeilge.
Thursday 25th January: Disability Talk & Wheelchair basketball (Donation to Irish Wheelchair Association may be required).
PROVISIONAL: 4 week course in Monaghan Institute Friday’s from 11:15 to 1pm. Course will be on advanced photoshop/animation
Friday 23rd February: Lollipop Day
PROVISIONAL second Work experience 19th March to 23rd March. These dates are subject to change and will be reviewed after the first work experience is completed.
