The A.G.M of the Parents’ Association took place on November 20th. The AGM was preceded with a very interesting talk by psychologist, past pupil and parent Shane Martin who spoke on the topic of “Your Precious Life – How to live it well”. This stimulating and entertaining presentation was well received by the parents and students present. When the parents adjourned for their AGM, Shane took questions from the students who remained. The AGM was chaired by outgoing chairman Kieran Lavelle and reports were presented by Secretary Linda Corrigan and Treasurer Mary Mullen. The treasurer’s report noted that over €10,000 was raised during the year by the Association through their various fundraising efforts. In his address to the meeting, school Principal Raymond McHugh thanked the parents who sat on the PA during the last academic year for their support and loyalty to the school. He mentioned in particular the chairperson Kieran Lavelle and thanked him for his contribution to the playing fields development project. The principal also outlined the role played by Enda O’Brien and Paul Bond as the parents nominees’ to the Board of Management. He thanked them both for their contribution to the school as members of the Board of Management. A new committee was elected to serve for the 2014 – 15 academic year. This group subsequently met and re-elected the outgoing executive to serve for another year.
