A very busy Maths Week took place in St. Macartan’s from Monday 13th to Friday 17th October. A series of events took place throughout the week. The transition years went to Scout Centre in Castlesaunderson to partake in a Maths Trail where they calculated heights, distances of several objects/buildings around the centre and took part in various hands on problem solving puzzles. Third and sixth year students took part in the PRISM problem solving maths competition which is run by NUI Galway. On the Friday, all first years took part in a Maths Roadshow which saw a team from the project maths development team coming to the school and which taught various aspects of the Junior Cert maths course in a practical hands-on way. Throughout the week students took part in several quizzes, including a “Maths Eyes” competition and maths relays around the school and a thoroughly enjoyable week was had by all students.
