T.Y. Student Damon Hagan Wins trip to Somme Battlefields.

Transition Year student Damon Hagan won a trip to WW1 Somme battle site as a result of his entry to the Adopt a Soldier competition which is being organised by the Irish History Teachers Association and Saffron Promotions. To secure his place, Damon had to submit an essay outlining his interest in the topic and a subsequent essay outlining why he should be selected to travel to the WW1 sites. Prior to the trip, Damon and students from throughout the 32 counties will be expected to carry out some research on Irish people from throughout the island who died at the Somme. Damon will travel to France and Belgium in March.
