Congratulations to 3rd Year students Darragh Todd and Oisín Lavelle and their teacher Ms. Maeve Mullen who recently attended and won a prize at the BT Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition in Dublin. Darragh and Oisín, both 14, came 2nd place in the Intermediate Biology and Ecology Section at the competition, which was celebrating its 50th event.
Their project, “The effect of Wi-Fi radiation on plant growth” investigated the impact of Wi-Fi routers on the germination and growth of lettuce plants. Local TDs Heather Humphries and Joe O’ Reilly were both intrigued and impressed by the students and their topic. Darragh and Oisín thoroughly enjoyed their experience at the exhibition held in the RDS, and are already planning for next years entry!
